Common questions about Florida boat and watercraft insurance

Is boat insurance required in Florida?

The state doesn't require it, but lenders and most marinas do — and it's smart for any vessel worth more than about $1,000.

What affects my rate?

Vessel type and value, horsepower, your boating experience and safety courses, navigational area, storage location and your deductible.

Agreed value or actual cash value?

Agreed value pays your policy limit without depreciation and costs more. Actual cash value is cheaper but pays depreciated value at the time of loss.

Am I covered during hurricane season?

Most Florida marine policies include named-storm haul-out reimbursement but may have a separate named-storm deductible. We'll review the specifics with you.
